چکیده

Taking folate before conception and then for the first three months of pregnancy reduces the risk of recurrence of neural tube defects, and fortification of food has been proposed. The effects of long term exposure to high concentrations of supplemental folate are unknown, and antimetabolite effects are theoretically possible. Data on the long term effects of increased folate intake in pregnancy are limited. We followed up a large trial of folate supplementation in pregnancy from the 1960s. 4 We examined the association between folate status and death, and we also analysed the effects of folate supplementation.

Gene-Gene Interaction Study Between Genetic Polymorphisms of Folate Metabolism and MTR SNPs on Prognostic Features Impact for Breast Cancer

Background: Breast Cancer (BC), the second leading cause of cancer mortality after lung cancer and varied across the world due to genetic and environmental factors. In this study, we evaluated the interaction between the polymorphisms in genes encoding enzymes of folate metabolism: methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), methionine synthesis reductase (MTR) with the BC prognostic factors. ...

رابطه مقادیر فولات، ویتامین ب12 و هموسیستئین تام پلاسما با هیپرمتیلاسیون ژن رتینوئیک اسید رسپتور- بتا2 وابسته به سن در مبتلایان به سرطان پستان

Background & Objectives: The repression of retinoic acid receptor-β2 (RARβ2) expression is a concerning aspect of breast cancer, which is often induced by hypermethylation at promoter of the gene. We aimed to explore the correlation of plasma folate, vitamin B12 and total homocysteine (tHcy) levels with hypermethylation status of RARβ2 gene among Iranian breast cancer patients. Methods: The...

The Association of the MTHFR Gene Polymorphisms with Breast Cancer Susceptibility

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. It is also the second leading cause of cancer death among women after lung cancer. Considering the relationship among plasma folate levels, the level of uracil, and DNA damage in cell division, methyl tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a suitable candidate for studies on the susceptibility to cancer, including brea...
